Job value is the amount the applicant reported on the permit. Contractor names are shortened. Over the last 30 days, 227 jobs fit this trade.

Why these jobs

New buildings, new garages, and permits that name a foundation, footing, slab, underpinning or retaining wall may need concrete. Tuckpointing and brick repair are left out. A job on this list may need concrete work, but the general contractor decides who is hired, so some jobs will already be covered.

Where the data comes from

These pages use City of Chicago public building permit records, which the city publishes each morning, and subscribers receive them that same morning. We pulled the 498 permits issued from Oct 17 to Oct 22, removed the ones that rarely need contractor services (signs, elevators, fire alarms, paperwork changes and similar), and sorted the rest by trade. Nothing is entered by hand. Job value is the amount the applicant reported on the permit, not a contract price. Source: City of Chicago Building Permits dataset.
